OUR APPROACH
Journalism + Design marries design processes with the core values of journalism to help students be more community-focused and imaginative about news delivery. Students learn to ask, with every story, who is this for and how do I reach them?
Our process includes seven steps: research, report, synthesize, make, get feedback, refine, reflect. These steps aren’t always linear. Sometimes you need to go back and research more, or report more, or refine more. But all together, these steps provide students with a flexible framework for approaching journalism in a comprehensive, community-centered way.
