Join Journalism + Design for our next virtual potluck to talk about using self-assessments and peer-assessments in place of traditional grading. Andrew R. Calderon, data reporter at The Marshall Project and J+D instructor, will share some of the assessment tools he uses in his community engagement and data journalism class, and talk through some of the successes and limitations of his practice.
We’ll gather informally to share ideas, resources and questions for journalism educators seeking to incorporate self-assessments and peer assessments into the classroom.
Anyone is welcome to bring a “dish” to share with the group – anything on the topic that you think others might benefit from, or may also be wondering about. Or just come to meet others and fill up your plate.
